- 2026 TdV Traffic Restrictions -
On Saturday, August 15th, 2026, traffic in some areas of Greater Victoria will be affected by up to 2,500 cyclists participating in the Ryder Hesjedal's Tour de Victoria. Cyclists from all over Canada and the U.S. are coming for the largest one-day cycling event in Victoria, and it’s going to be happening in your community!
What will happen on Saturday, August 15th.
- Police, certified traffic control attendants and course marshals will control cyclists and traffic flow along the route.
- The first ride starts in downtown Victoria at 7:00 am, travels 160km around the region
- Riders will be rolling through the region from 7:00 am-3:30 pm
- The route only affects certain roads in each municipality, and timing varies in each area.
- Expect minor traffic delays throughout the region

Victoria - (Belleville St, Government St, Wharf St, Johnson Bridge, Harbour Rd) 6:50 am – 7:15 am, 8:25 am – 8:55 am, 9:20 am – 9:40 am, Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists, expect delays at intersections while cyclists pass
Esquimalt - (Tyee Rd, Skinner St, Craigflower Rd) 7:00 am – 7:20 am, 8:45 am – 9:15 am, 9:30 am – 10:00 am Two-way traffic is allowed. Expect delays at intersections while cyclists pass
View Royal - (Island Hwy)- 7:05 am – 7:35 am, 8:20 am – 8:55 am, 9:20 am – 10:00 am, Two-way traffic is allowed. Expect delays at intersections while cyclists pass
Colwood - (Island Highway, Ocean Blvd, Lagoon Rd, Metchosin Rd) 7:15 am – 8:00 am Two-way traffic is allowed. Expect delays at intersections while cyclists pass
Metchosin - (Metchosin, Duke, William Head, Lombard, Rocky Point, East Sooke Road, Liberty, Kangaroo, Lindholm, Happy Valley) 7:25 am – 9:30 am Two-way traffic is allowed. Expect delays at intersections while cyclists pass
East Sooke - (Rocky Point, East Sooke Road, Gillespie Rd) 7:40 am – 8:50 am Two-way traffic is allowed. Expect delays at intersections while cyclists pass

Highlands - (Munn Rd, Willis Point Rd) 8:25 am – 10:45 am Two-way traffic is allowed. Expect delays at intersections while cyclists pass
Highlands – (Millstream Lake Rd, Ross Durrance Rd) 8:35 am – 10:40 am Northbound vehicle traffic only. Same direction as our cyclists.
Saanich - (Burnside Rd W, Prospect Lake Rd, Munn Rd) 8:20 am – 12:21 pm Eastbound Burnside W closed from Watkiss Way to Charlton. Two Way Traffic allowed on Munn Rd. Northbound traffic allowed on Prospect Lake Rd.
Saanich – (Wallace Dr) 8:50 am – 11:15am Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists. (No Northbound Traffic allowed)

Central Saanich – (Wallace Dr, West Saanich Rd, Old W. Saanich) 9:00 am – 11:30 am Two-way traffic is allowed.
Oak Bay - (Beach Drive, King George Terrace) 10:20 am – 3:20 pm Full Closures (Residents permitted to access their homes when there are breaks in the cyclists).
Royal Oak - (McMorran Way to the Cordova Bay) 9:53am - 1:52pm Royal Oak Drive is closed from McMorran Way to Cordova Bay for local traffic only. Vehicles are detoured via McMorran, Sunnymead, and Galey Way to Cordova Bay Road
Victoria - (Crescent Rd, Hollywood Cres, Dallas Rd and waterfront perimeter of James Bay including Erie St, St Lawrence, Kingston St, Montreal St, Quebec St, Pendray St, Belleville) 10:20 am – 3:50 pm Full Closures (Residents permitted to access their homes when there are breaks in the cyclists).
Victoria Inner Harbour - (Belleville St between Menzies St and Government St) 4:00 am – 8:00 pm Full Closures
Any resident that lives on a waterfront road or road that can only be accessed by a waterfront road will still have access to their homes. Traffic Control Personnel will allow residents to access their homes when there are breaks in the cyclists.
