– 2024 TdV Traffic Restrictions –
On Saturday, August 17th, 2024, traffic in some areas of Greater Victoria will be affected by up to 2,500 cyclists participating in the Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria. Cyclists from all over Canada and the U.S. are coming for the largest one-day cycling event in Victoria, and it’s going to be happening in your community!
What will happen on Saturday, August 17th?
- Police, certified traffic control attendants and course marshals will control cyclists and traffic flow along the route.
- The first ride starts in downtown Victoria at 7:00 am, travels 160km around the region
- Riders will be rolling through the region from 7:00 am-3:00 pm
- The route only affects certain roads in each municipality, and timing varies in each area.
- Expect minor traffic delays throughout the region

Victoria Inner Harbour

Victoria: Between 6:50 am – 7:15 am, 8:05 am – 8:30 am, and 9:05 am – 9:30 am Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists. Cyclists will be travelling on Belleville St, Government St, Wharf St, Johnson St, Johnson Bridge & Harbour Rd.
Esquimalt: Between 7:00 am – 7:20 am, 8:15 am – 8:45 am, and 9:15 am – 9:50 am Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists. Cyclists will be travelling on Esquimalt Rd, Harbour Rd, Tyee Rd, Skinner St, & Craigflower Rd.
View Royal: Between 7:05 am – 7:35 am, 8:20 am – 8:55 am, and 9:20 am – 9:50 am. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on Island Hwy.
Colwood: Between 7:15 am – 8:00 am. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on Island Hwy, Ocean Blvd, Lagoon Rd, & Metchosin Rd.
Metchosin: Between 7:25 am – 9:30 am. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on Metchosin Rd, Duke Rd, William Head Rd, Lombard Dr, Rocky Point Rd, East Sooke Rd, Kangaroo Rd, Liberty Dr, Lindholm Rd, & Happy Valley Rd.
Sooke: Between 7:40 am – 8:50 am. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on Rocky Point Rd, East Sooke Rd, & Gillespie Rd.
Langford – Between 7:55 am – 9:50 am. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on Happy Valley Rd, Glen Lake Rd, Langford Pkwy, Leigh Rd, Dunford Ave, Jacklin Rd, Goldstream Ave, & Atkins Ave.
View Royal: Between 8:15 am – 10:10 am. Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists. Cyclists will be travelling on Atkins Ave and Burnside Rd W.
Saanich: 8:20 am – 10:15 am. Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists. Cyclists will be travelling on Burnside RdW, Prospect Lake Rd, and Munn Rd.
Highlands: 8:25 am – 10:45 am.
Munn Rd: Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction our cyclists will be travelling on.
Highlands: 8:35 am – 10:40 am.
Millstream Lake Rd and Ross Durrance Rd (between Munn Rd and Willis Point Rd.): Northbound traffic only. This is THE SAME DIRECTION as our cyclists.
Willis Point Rd: Two-Way Traffic will be permitted on Willis Point Rd controlled by Traffic Control personnel to allow residents from Millstream Rd and Willis Point Rd to exit to Wallace Dr
Saanich: 8:50 am – 11:00 am. Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists. Cyclists will be travelling on Wallace Dr.
Saanich: 9:05 am – 2:10 pm. Vehicle traffic is permitted in the opposite direction of our cyclists. Cyclists will be travelling on Old W. Saanich, Sparton Rd, Prospect Lake Rd, Burnside Rd, Charlton Rd, Granville Ave, Hastings Rd, North Rd, Doyle Rd, Elkwood Rd, Oldfield Rd, Brookleigh Rd, Cordova Bay Rd, Haliburton Rd, Cordova Bay Rd, Ash Rd, Grandview Dr, Ferndale Rd, Gordon Head Rd, Arbutus Rd, Telegraph Bay Rd, Cadboro Bay Rd. Please note that Cadboro Bay Rd, between Sinclair Rd and Beach Drive will allow two-way traffic where needed to relieve traffic build-up.
Saanich: 10:15 am – 2:00 pm. Southbound vehicle traffic only on Queenswood Dr.
Saanich: 8:20 am – 10:15 am. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on Willis Point Rd.
Central Saanich: 9:00 am – 11:10 am. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on Wallace Dr, Garden Gate Dr, and Benvenuto Ave, West Saanich Rd, & Old West Saanich Rd. (Two-way traffic will be permitted on Benvenuto Rd & West Saanich Rd)
Saanich: 9:10 am – 1:30 pm. Two-way vehicle traffic is permitted. Cyclists will be travelling on West Saanich Rd, Interurban Rd, Quayle Rd, Beaver Lake Rd, Hamsterley Rd, Sayward Rd, Alderley Rd, Santa Clara Av, Claremont Av, Wesley Rd, Sea Ridge Dr, Stormtide Way, Seaperl Place, Lochside Dr, Royal Oak Dr.
Oak Bay: 10:20 am – 2:50 pm. Full road closure on Beach Drive, and King George Terrace. However, residents of Beach Dr, King George Terrace and roads that can only be accessed by through these roads will still have access to their homes. Traffic Control Personnel will allow residents to access their homes when there are breaks in the cyclists. Access to Royal Victoria Yacht Club, Oak Bay Marina, Oak Bay Beach Hotel and Victoria Golf Club will be controlled by Traffic Control Personnel.
Victoria: 10:40 am – 3:30 pm. Full road closures on Crescent Rd, Hollywood Cres, Dallas Rd and the waterfront perimeter of James Bay, including Erie St, St Lawrence St, Kingston St, Montreal St, Quebec St, Pendray St, and Belleville St.
Victoria Inner Harbour: 4:00 am – 8:00 pm. Full road closure on Belleville St between Menzies St and Government St.
Any resident that lives on a waterfront road or road that can only be accessed by a waterfront road will still have access to their homes. Traffic Control Personnel will allow residents to access their homes when there are breaks in the cyclists.
